Learn how to set up a technology fee for all of your club's card processing payments.
Welcome to another Playbypoint tutorial. In this guide, we'll teach you the basics of setting up a technology fee for your club's credit card processing payments. Now, let's get started!
- Log into your Playbypoint account.
- Go to Manage Bookings.
- From the menu sidebar on the left, find Settings.
- In Settings, under the Payment section, go to Payment Rules.
- Once inside Payment Rules, you'll be able to start your technology fee setup. Starting with “Rate type for technology fee by purchase.”
This is the first rule you must enable to start setting up the Technology Fee for your club's credit card payments. This rule just tells our system whether the fee value will be based on a percentage or a flat rate. There's always the option to Add more and designate different Rate types per purchase type, but most commonly, we recommend leaving this as a Default Setting.
- Next, on the list of Technology Fee setup steps is the “Amount of technology fee by purchase type” rule.
This step goes hand in hand with the rule above. If you selected “percentage”, then this is where you input the percentage value you'll be charging club members as an added technology fee in their total card payment charge. The example above shows that the fee amount is set to Default so all card payments, regardless of the purchase type, would have an added 2% charge for credit card processing.
- Moving on, we've got the following button to enable: “Charge Technology Fee To Players Interfaces.”
Here, you'll enable the technology fee for all players.
- And as the last step, following the same function but for managers is the button: “Charge Technology Fee To Managers Interfaces.”
Enable this rule to ensure that players and managers alike get the technology fee charged when they use credit cards to pay for any purchase at your club.
After this, you're all set! Your Technology Fee should start showing up in the Billing Details before a user completes a purchase.
